The Athletes Journey

Countless stories have been told on the journey of an athlete. From being exposed to your first sport, to learning how to compete at some of the highest levels. Some athletes work hard, while others get lucky; but, luck isn’t always enough and talent doesn’t guarantee success. The difference comes down to two things: preparation and opportunity.

Our Why

Assuming this lesson reached beyond the realms of sports birthed the creation of, The Kickoff Experience. Born out of CEO Kamryn Young’s own experience with life after high school athletics and her inexperience with the recruitment process, she felt stuck.

The Biggest Misconception

Assuming that going to a university that let her play was all that mattered to achieve her dreams and goals both on and off the court; she soon came to realize, the current sports industry is in the business of entertaining and making money, not building the athlete for the next level.

A Student with a chance

The first time she had a chance to do something to impact the athletes in her community, she jumped at the chance and created the first VUU sports media day at her undergraduate university, to bring a fun and a unifying experience to all the athletes and the student body, regardless of the sport they played.

The IMPACT

This event sparked the charge to not just stop there, but push the envelope to find the best way to truly help people like her. She believed she could make an impact by guiding student athletes at the high school level.

The Assignment

Yet, through time and experience, she realized the biggest impact is guiding a mindset confident in their ability to perform with the understanding that failure to achieve one goal does not mean ultimate defeat.
